NURSERY IN SPAIN
If you want to live and work in Spain you should think about
finding care for your little children until they go to school in Spain .
Spanish Nurseries are a part of the Spanish educational system although they
are not obligatory. They provide day care for the youngest children between 0
and 6 years. The Spanish Nursery system is divided into 2 parts consisting of 3
grades each. Every grade meets the needs of a certain age group. The first part
(primer ciclo) cares for children between 0 and 3 years and the second part
(segundo ciclo) for children between 3 and 6. The activities provided in
Spanish nursery schools are versatile and range from music and dance over doing
different handicrafts, reading, exercises for logical and mathematical thinking
to introductions to computers and education on social, ethical and moral
values.
Among the numerous options of child care in Spain you will find the best option
for your children. There are English, German and French nursery schools and of
course Spanish nurseries and a lot of international and bilingual nurseries
offering care ranging from supervised play to a structured pre-school
curriculum. If you choose a Spanish nursery your child will learn the Spanish
language quite fast but in the first few months it might also have some
problems and feel misunderstood as it cannot speak in his mother tongue. But
this also depends of the age at which your child enters a nursery school in
Spain . The youngest children that enter nursery at the age of only some month
will not have so many difficulties in Spanish speaking nursery schools as they
will learn the Spanish language in a similar way like their mother tongue. If
your children enter a nursery later with 3 or 4 years or if they only attend
the last year of nursery school in Spain , it might be better to choose a
bilingual nursery school. So your child will be able to express his or her
feelings and will be understood by the nursery staff. At the same time the
children will be introduced to the Spanish language in a playful way so that
they will be able to speak Spanish after some months and before they start
primary school in Spain.
