WIRELESS INTERNET

In the recent years Wireless Internet (called "Wifi") became more and more popular in Spain. An increasing number of Spanish hotels, schools, restaurants and bars are making wireless internet connections available to their customers. If you have a laptop or multiple computers, Wifi would be a great convenience at an affordable price, although prices vary greatly. At the moment it is quite hard to find a free connection, unless you are in one of the major Spanish cities, where more and more Wifi hotspots are created.

Internet in SpainIf you are living in a rural area probably you will not have access to the Internet, neither dial up nor ADSL and much less there will be Wireless Internet available. If that is the case, you will have the possibility to connect to the Internet via Satellite, what may be very expensive. But as technology is improving and there are emerging more and more provider for Internet via Satellite in Spain, you should shop around and try to find Satellite connection at an affordable price.

If you do not have access to a computer with internet connection at home or at work, then you can go to one of the numerous internet cafés in Spain. You can find several of these points in almost every town. The prices can vary but usually they will charge between 1.00? and 1.50? an hour. Once you have purchased access time, any time you have left over will usually not be refunded. If you will probably online for a while or several times a week, it would be the best to buy a special multi-hour pass called "bono". With such a pass you usually buy an increment of 5-10 hours to a reduced price per hour and you will only be billed for the minutes that you actually use. For all other services like printing or scanning, extra fees may be charged but these depend on the Internet café you have chosen, so that it might be advisable to compare these rates.
