INCOME TAX

Income TaxIncome tax (impuestos sobre personas fisicas) has increased a lot in Spain over the past 20 years. It is something that you need to think about if you are going over to Spain to work. The Spanish tax year runs from the 1st of January to the 31st of December. If you reside in Spain for more than 183 days then you are classified as a Spanish resident and therefore are eligible to be taxed. Around May/June time the tax office will send you a declaration form (declaration de la Renta) to fill out (unless you earn under €8000 a year) and then you send back and pay the tax that you are due to pay and that is it.
